💡Why Both Matter
NEET PG is arguably MORE career-defining than NEET UG. Your UG (MBBS) makes you a doctor. Your PG (MD/MS) decides WHAT KIND of doctor — cardiologist (₹1Cr+ earning) vs community medicine (₹15-25 LPA). The specialization you get through NEET PG determines your entire career trajectory and earning potential.
GATE has dual utility: (1) MTech admission to IITs/NITs — funded with ₹12,400/month stipend, great for research and academic career. (2) PSU recruitment — IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, ONGC, GAIL use GATE scores for officer recruitment with starting salary ₹50,000-70,000/month. Without GATE, PSU entry is very difficult.
The key difference: Skipping NEET PG means practicing as a general MBBS doctor (limited earning). Skipping GATE means working in private sector (which may pay more anyway). NEET PG has higher career necessity than GATE.
